Whistic + Archer: A Native Bidirectional Sync for Enterprise Risk

Whistic and Archer, connected

Native vendor data sync between Whistic and Archer SaaS, built with enterprise risk teams and design partner input from Fidelity.

Enterprise risk programs rarely run in one system. Archer holds the GRC record. Whistic runs the vendor risk work. Until now, keeping them aligned often meant exports, manual updates, integrator work, and reconciliation.

The Whistic + Archer integration changes that.

Vendor data syncs from Whistic to Archer when records are updated. Data syncs back to Whistic on a daily scheduled run. Field mappings are configurable. Every sync is logged. Failed syncs auto-retry before escalating.

The result: two systems, one connected vendor record, less manual reconciliation.

Why it matters for enterprise risk programs

Enterprise teams have already invested in Archer. They have configured workflows, trained teams, built reports, and made it part of the GRC operating model.

Whistic is not recommending those teams to rip Archer out. Archer remains the enterprise GRC system of record. Whistic adds the third-party risk management depth teams need to assess vendors, manage risk, and keep the work moving.

Without a native integration, teams usually face three imperfect options:

  • Reconcile vendor data between Whistic and Archer by hand.
  • Build and maintain a custom integration in-house.
  • Pay a third-party integrator to keep the two systems aligned.

Each path adds cost and creates room for data drift. A vendor gets updated in one system but not the other. A field is missed. A status change gets copied late. Over time, teams lose confidence that either system reflects the current vendor record.

The Archer Integration reduces that burden. Vendor data moves through configured mappings. Sync activity is logged with status, timestamp, content record, and error detail, creating a per-record audit trail teams can hand to internal audit. Teams spend less time reconciling systems and more time managing the risk those systems exist to track and minimize.

How the sync works

The integration runs in both directions, with different cadences.

Whistic to Archer: near real time.

When a vendor record is updated in Whistic, the change is detected, a sync job is queued, and the integration calls the Archer REST API with mapped field values. Most syncs complete within seconds. Each result is captured in the sync log with status, timestamp, content record id, and error detail.

Archer to Whistic: daily scheduled sync.

After setup, Archer data syncs into Whistic daily. The integration uses a configured Archer report to send vendor data to Whistic. The first scheduled run executes a full sync from Archer. Subsequent runs apply updates on the daily cadence.

Failed syncs auto-retry up to three times. Persistent failures are escalated for manual review by Whistic Support.

Built for real Archer complexity

Archer does not model vendor risk the same way Whistic does.

Archer uses Engagements, Content Records, custom field hierarchies, and Archer IDs. Whistic uses vendor records, assessments, profiles, and workflows. We built the integration for real enterprise Archer environments, where field structures, record types, and workflows vary by customer.

Field-level mapping gives teams control over exactly which data moves between Whistic and Archer. Search helps admins find the right Archer fields in customized environments. Before go-live, Whistic engineering helps validate the configuration with a test sync, so teams know the integration matches the way their program actually runs.

Fidelity has been one of the integration's design partners, giving the team real enterprise workflows to build against. Several other enterprise customers are already lined up to use it.

What V1 includes, and what it does not

V1 includes:

  • Archer SaaS support
  • Bidirectional vendor data sync
  • Configurable field-level mapping
  • Sync logs with status, timestamp, content record id, and error detail
  • Automatic retries on transient failures, up to three attempts
  • Setup support: technical connection, intake form setup, field mapping, a successful test sync, workflow verification, admin training, and CSM handoff

Not in V1, yet:

  • Historical backfill from Whistic. Only future Whistic updates trigger a sync. Existing vendor records need a manual touch.
  • Vendors without an Archer Content ID. The integration uses the Archer ID to match records. Missing IDs are skipped.
  • Every Archer field type. Some field types may not accept writes depending on Archer configuration and permissions. Whistic engineering identifies these during setup.
  • Trust Center data and other non-vendor-reporting data. V1 syncs vendor reporting data only.

V1 is focused on the work enterprise teams asked us to solve first: keeping vendor and assessment data aligned between Whistic and Archer without manual reconciliation.

Availability

The Whistic + Archer integration is available as an add-on to any Whistic Assess package. It is not restricted to a specific tier.

Your Whistic account team can walk through packaging, setup sessions, and timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Whistic + Archer integration?

A native, bidirectional integration between Whistic and Archer SaaS. Vendor data syncs from Whistic to Archer in near real time when records are updated, and from Archer to Whistic on a daily scheduled run. Field mappings are configurable, every sync is logged, and failed syncs auto-retry.

Does it support Archer SaaS or On-prem Archer?

V1 supports Archer SaaS, Archer's cloud product.

What data syncs?

Vendor reporting data. Trust Center data and other non-vendor-reporting data types are not in V1.

How often does sync run?

Whistic to Archer runs near real time, triggered when a vendor record is updated in Whistic. Archer to Whistic runs as a daily scheduled sync after setup.

What happens when a sync fails?

Failed syncs auto-retry up to three times. Persistent failures are escalated for manual review by Whistic Support. Every sync result is captured in the Event Logs tab with status, timestamp, content record, and error detail.

Do I need an Archer Content ID?

Yes. The integration uses the Archer Content ID to link Archer records to Whistic vendor records. Vendors without an Archer ID are skipped.

How do I get started?

The integration is an add-on to any Whistic Assess package. Your Whistic account team can walk through packaging, setup, and onboarding.
